Dear community members of the Hispanic Association of Health Professionals, Inc. NY, and to all the participants of the Union-Elizabeth County, New Jersey Dominican Parade and Festival,

It is with great honor and emotion that we announce that the X Annual Health Fair, «Decide to be Healthy», which will take place on Sunday, July 23, 2023, at the Juan Pablo Duarte & José Martí School, will be dedicated to Lic Gregorio A Torres. We come together to honor and remember Mr. Torres, who passed away due to complications from Covid 19 on June 19, 2021.

Gregorio Torres was an exceptional man who had a significant impact on the New Jersey Latino community. He came to the United States in 1983 and spent much of his life integrating Latino business people. He was the founder of the Dominican Chamber of Commerce in the state of New Jersey, the founder of the Union County Dominican Parade and Festival, and most of all, the co-founder of our annual Health Fair.

Mr. Torres was a man dedicated to his family, with eleven children and a wife, Dr. Carolyn Vásquez. He was also a successful businessman and had a Bachelor’s degree in Education. His legacy in the New Jersey Hispanic community will be forever remembered.

As the organizing committee of the 10th Annual Health Fair, we consider it a great privilege to honor Gregorio Torres and recognize all his contributions and dedication to the development of our event. Thanks to the collaboration of Dr. Carolyn Vásquez, we can make this posthumous recognition to Lic. Torres, and recognize the great detachment of services from him.

We invite all of you to join us on this special occasion, where we will be able to remember and honor the life and legacy of Mr. Gregorio A Torres.
