My name is Dafni Sanchez; I was born in the Dominican Republic, the second of four children, to a middle-class family. I emigrated with my family at ten years old from the Dominican Republic to the United States, the city of New York, to later move to Philadelphia. I attended several schools in Philadelphia, from  Benjamin Rush middle school to Samuel Fields high school to Delaware Valley middle school, and graduated high school in 2001. In 2002 I returned home to my homeland and started medical school at Universidad Ibero American (UNIBE). After graduating medical school in 2008, I began working in mental health as a drug and alcohol counselor and then psychotherapist; in 2012, I became certified by the Beck Institute as a CBT therapist. In 2013 I became a mother to my son. In 2014, I had a daughter, and in 2016 a third child, a girl. These have been significant moments that have shaped my life and changed its fabric and essence. In 2018 I graduated with a master’s in psychology from the Universidad Pedro Henriquez Urena. In 2020, I lost my best friend, who kept me safe and steady in life, my father —having to grow and push through due to the world pandemic. Pushing through those times with the help of my mother, my rock, I grew into the role of Director of operations facing many challenges. I started a journey aiming to obtain a Doctoral degree in psychology from Walden University.

Mi nombre es Dafni Sánchez; Nací en la República Dominicana, el segundo de cuatro hijos, en una familia de clase media. Emigré con mi familia a los diez años de República Dominicana a los Estados Unidos, la ciudad de Nueva York, para luego mudarme a Filadelfia. Asistí a varias escuelas en Filadelfia, desde la escuela intermedia Benjamin Rush hasta la escuela secundaria Samuel Fields y la escuela secundaria Delaware Valley, y me gradué de la escuela secundaria en 2001. En 2002 regresé a mi tierra natal y comencé la escuela de medicina en la Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE). Después de graduarse de la escuela de medicina, comencé a trabajar en salud mental en 2008 como terapeuta de drogas y alcohol y luego como psicoterapeuta; en 2012, obtuve la certificación del Instituto Beck como terapeuta de TCC. En 2013 me convertí en madre de mi hijo. En 2014 tuve una hija y en 2016 un tercer hijo, una niña. Estos han sido momentos significativos que han dado forma a mi vida y cambiado su tejido y esencia. 2018 Me gradué con una maestría en psicología de la Universidad Pedro Henrique Ureña. En 2020, perdí a mi mejor amigo, quien me mantuvo a salvo y estable en la vida, teniendo que crecer y salir adelante debido a la pandemia mundial. Superando estos tiempos, crecí en el papel, enfrenté muchos desafíos y comencé un viaje con el objetivo de obtener un doctorado en psicología de la Universidad de Walden.
