Estimados nuevos inmigrantes profesionales de Terapia Física:

¡Bienvenidos a los Estados Unidos! Sabemos que llegar a un nuevo país conlleva muchos desafíos, especialmente en lo que respecta a ejercer su profesión. Pero queremos informarles que obtener la licencia para practicar la Terapia Física en este país es completamente posible si siguen los pasos correctos.

Lo primero que deben hacer es contactar a una agencia de evaluación de credenciales para determinar la equivalencia de su título extranjero. Una vez obtengan este reporte, pueden presentarlo ante la Junta Estatal de Terapia Física para solicitar la licencia. También deberán aprobar el Examen Nacional de Terapia Física.

La Terapia Física es una profesión sumamente importante que mejora la calidad de vida de las personas. Como terapeutas físicos tienen el poder de aliviar el dolor, restaurar movilidad y función, prevenir lesiones y discapacidades, y promover salud y bienestar. ¡No renuncien a ejercer esta noble carrera!

As an overseas physical therapy graduate, you can use the following agencies for credential evaluations in the United States:

Foreign Credentialing Commission on Physical Therapy (FCCPT): The FCCPT is a widely recognized agency that specializes in evaluating the credentials of foreign-educated physical therapists and physical therapist assistants. They offer various types of evaluations, including the Comprehensive Credentials Review (Type 1 Review) required for immigration and licensure purposes.

1. Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS): Although CGFNS is primarily known for evaluating nursing credentials, they also provide services for physical therapists through their VisaScreen® program, which includes an educational and licensure review.

1. Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE): ECE offers credential evaluation services for various professions, including physical therapy. They can provide a course-by-course evaluation, which is often required for licensure.

1. World Education Services (WES): WES is another well-known agency that provides credential evaluations for a range of professions, including physical therapy. They offer course-by-course evaluations that are accepted by many licensing boards.

1. International Education Research Foundation (IERF): IERF offers credential evaluation services for physical therapists, providing detailed reports that include a course-by-course analysis.

It’s important to check with the specific state licensing board where you intend to practice, as they may have preferred agencies or specific requirements for the evaluation process.

Cuando usted reciba esta evaluación de credenciales, no es equivalente de que puede ejercer su carrera, recuerde primero debe aprobar el examen correspondiente.

The evaluation will verify your education, transcripts and determine degree equivalency to U.S. standards. Once complete, you can submit the results to state licensing boards when applying for your license to practice physical therapy in the U.S. I’d recommend checking each agency’s website for details on their evaluation process and requirements.
