DRA.CARMEN TEREZA RODRIGUEZ MORONTA:
Dr. Carmen Teresa Rodríguez Moronta is a Dominican trailblazer whose impact spans academia, research, and humanitarian initiatives. For over eight years, she has served on the educational board of the Hispanic Association of Health Professionals, Inc., NY, lending her expertise to numerous scientific committees and medical congresses across New York, Pennsylvania, and Boston.
Her dedication to community well-being is unparalleled, having coordinated several health fairs in New York and New Jersey with the Hispanic Association, providing invaluable care to those in need. Dr. Rodríguez’s academic credentials are equally impressive. She holds a degree in Rehabilitation with a specialization in Physical Therapy from the Universidad Católica Santo Domingo, a master’s degree in higher education from the University of Havana, Cuba, and specialized training in Neurodevelopmental Treatment (Bobath technique) and Neurodevelopment and Bioethics from the Technological University of Santiago (UTESA).
As a professor of basic sciences at the renowned Universidad Federico Henríquez y Carvajal (UFHEC) in Santo Domingo, Dr. Rodríguez has nurtured the minds of countless students. Her expertise in stroke recognition and personalized treatment plans has made her a leading figure in physical therapy, dedicating her career to helping others recover and regain their quality of life.
Moreover, Dr. Rodríguez’s impact extends to the realm of media and education. As a co-founder of the TV conference series «¡Tu voz AHPSI!», she has curated a collection of over 1,400 medical conferences, disseminating vital knowledge to a wide audience.

With dreams that transcended boundaries, Dr. Flores journeyed to Reading, Pennsylvania, where his passion for health found new avenues of expression. His commitment to excellence propelled him to further his education, earning an associate degree in nursing at EDP University in Puerto Rico, and specializing as a Family Nurse Practitioner at Miami Regional University in Florida. His academic journey continues, as he pursues a postmaster’s degree in Psychiatry as a Nurse, further exemplifying his relentless pursuit of knowledge and expertise.
Dr. Flores’ impact extends beyond the walls of hospitals and clinics. He is a beacon of motivation, inspiring countless professionals to explore the noble field of nursing and achieve higher academic heights. JOSE JOAQUIN MOTA:
José Joaquín Mota is a distinguished leader, politician, journalist, businessman, community organizer and public servant whose career has left an indelible mark on the state of Pennsylvania. Born in the Dominican Republic, José Joaquín immigrated to Philadelphia in 1995, where he quickly became a key figure in the Dominican community.
As ideologue and co-founder of the Association of Dominican Winemakers, José Joaquín has been a pillar in strengthening commercial and cultural ties between Dominicans in Pennsylvania. His leadership as president of the Philadelphia Dominican Parade Committee has been instrumental in the celebration and preservation of Dominican traditions in the region.
Additionally, José Joaquín has played a crucial role as founder and president of the Board of Directors of the Duartiano Dominican Institute of Philadelphia, PA and Delaware Valley, promoting education and patriotic values among the Dominican diaspora. His commitment to politics is reflected in his position as President of the Pennsylvania, Delaware and Southern New Jersey Chapter of the Dominican Liberation Party.
In the diplomatic sphere, José Joaquín has served with distinction as Vice Consul of the Dominican Republic in Philadelphia, first honorably in 1997 and then officially from 2004 to 2011, and again in 2015 to inaugurate the Philadelphia Satellite Office.
His passion for journalism and communication is evident in his academic training at the Dominican Institute of Journalists and in his work as editor of the Duartiano Institute Bulletin, director of the newspaper El Comercial and contributor to several Hispanic newspapers in Philadelphia.
José Joaquín is a family man, married to Gertrudis Mota since 1990, and father of four successful children: Erick E. Mota, Jennifer J. Mota, Solange Mota and Magalis G. Mota, who have followed professional paths in aeronautics, journalism, politics and medicine, respectively.
Also, Lic.Jose Joaquin Mota, has two adorable grandchildren: Elijah Jose David & Miley.
The recognition of José Joaquín Mota with the “Legacy of Honor Award: 21 Years of Merits and Contributions” is a well-deserved tribute to his tireless dedication and significant contributions to the Dominican community and the state of Pennsylvania. His legacy is an inspiration for future generations of leaders and public servants.
DRA.YOKASTA GERMOSEN:
Dr. Yokasta Germosén Almonte is an extraordinary figure in medicine, education and community service. Originally from the Dominican Republic, she completed her medical degree from the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra and later specialized in Family and Community Medicine from Juan XXIII Provincial Hospital. Her thirst for knowledge led her to obtain a Master’s in Public Health from the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo, in addition to numerous other diplomas and certifications.
With over two decades of experience, Dr. Germosén Almonte has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to medical education and community well-being. As a professor at her alma mater, she has mentored generations of aspiring physicians and collaborated on health education television programs. Her leadership extends globally through building international student exchange networks benefiting medical and nursing students.
However, Dr. Germosén Almonte’s impact reaches far beyond classroom walls. As the director of Home Nursing, she has provided quality care to those most in need, leaving an indelible mark on communities through her service. This award celebrates not just her individual achievements, but her spirit of service and vision for collective progress.
Dr. Germosén Almonte embodies the best of the Hispanic medical community. She is a shining example and inspiration for current and future generations of health professionals. Her extraordinary career and selfless contributions have earned her the esteemed «Educational and Community Merit Award.»
DR.MAURO CANARIO LORENZO:
Dr. Mauro Canario Lorenzo, a luminary in the field of pediatric health, embarked on his illustrious journey in the serene city of San Juan de la Maguana, Dominican Republic. With a deep-seated passion for medicine, he pursued his education at the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD), where he not only honed his skills as a pediatrician but also embraced the noble path of teaching, imparting his knowledge as an Anatomy instructor.
His academic pursuits further led him to attain a master’s degree in Public Health and complete a medical residency in Pediatrics at the esteemed Robert Reid Cabral Hospital. Dr. Canario’s dedication to medical education and public health is evident from his pioneering role as the first general director of Postgraduate Studies at the UASD Faculty of Sciences, a position he held with distinction for over 15 years.
Throughout his career, Dr. Canario has worn many hats— from being a general director of Medical Residences at the Ministry of Public Health to serving as the president of the National Council of Medical Residences. His international acumen was further highlighted as the Director of International Cooperation at the UASD. Notably, he was the visionary behind the creation of the optional undergraduate thesis course at the UASD Faculty of Health Sciences.
Dr. Canario’s contributions extend beyond academia to research, as he has been an integral member of the Research Corps of the National Center for Research in Maternal and Child Health at the Robert Reíd Cabral Hospital. His editorial prowess is reflected in his role as the editor of the Health and People magazine and as the director of the Scientific and Guild Magazines of the Dominican Medical Association.
His commitment to the medical community is further underscored by his advisory role to the Hispanic Association of Health Professionals in the USA, where he was honored as an Honorary Member in 2006. As a founding member of the Dominican Institute of Food and Nutrition and a dean of the UASD Faculty of Health Sciences, Dr. Canario has left an indelible mark on the field.
A prolific writer, Dr. Canario is the author of «Basic Notes for Leaders,» a testament to his leadership and mentorship in the medical fraternity. His international engagements include serving as a lecturer and advisor to several institutions in the United States, including the Dominican Medical College branches in Valle Delaware and Boston.
In recent years, Dr. Canario’s legacy has been further cemented by his contribution to the development of the proposal for the Research Institute of the Faculty of Health Sciences. Currently, he leads as the Director of the Academic Management Training Institute, Dr. Fidel Mejía Ramírez, a testament to his enduring commitment to medical education and training.
As we gather to celebrate his Legacy of Honor Award at the XXI Annual Multidisciplinary International Medical Congress, we honor Dr. Mauro Canario Lorenzo for his 21 years of meritorious contributions and unwavering dedication to the advancement of healthcare and medical education.
