Simple Steps for International Nursing Graduates to Register for the NCLEX-RN Exam with the New York Board of Nursing

1. Obtain Credential Evaluation.

   Before applying for the NCLEX-RN, foreign-educated nurses must have their nursing education credentials evaluated by a recognized agency. The New York State Education Department (NYSED) requires this evaluation to determine if your nursing education meets U.S. standards.

2. Submit Application to the New York Board of Nursing.

   After receiving your credential evaluation, submit an application to the **New York State Education Department, Office of the Professions**. You can apply online through their website:

3. Complete Continuing Education Courses  👍

   To qualify for licensure, you are required to complete mandatory continuing education courses on:

   – **Child Abuse**: Available from providers authorized by the **New York State Office of Children and Family Services**.

   – **Infection Control**: Must be completed through providers authorized by the **New York State Department of Health**.

4. Register for the NCLEX-RN Exam 

   Once your application is accepted, you must register with **Pearson VUE** to schedule your NCLEX-RN exam. You can register online at:

5.Prepare and Take the NCLEX-RN Exam .

   After registering, you will receive your Authorization to Test (ATT), which allows you to schedule the exam at your nearest testing center. Study diligently to pass the NCLEX-RN and achieve your goal of becoming a licensed nurse in New York.
