La Asociación Hispana de Profesionales de la Salud tiene el placer de anunciar la reapertura de su feria comunitaria de la salud en la ciudad de Elizabeth, New Jersey. Este evento tendrá lugar el próximo 23 de julio de 2023, desde las 10am hasta las 3 pm en la escuela Juan Pablo Duarte, ubicada en el 25 de First St, Elizabeth, New Jersey, 07202.
Este año celebramos la decima edición de nuestra feria de la salud, en colaboración con el Desfile y Festival Dominicano del Condado de Union, bajo la dirección del Lic. Gilberto Cruz. La feria está dirigida a la comunidad latina y tiene como objetivo principal promover la prevención y el cuidado de la salud, así como brindar acceso a servicios médicos básicos y especializados.
La feria contará con la presencia de profesionales de la salud que brindarán información y consejos sobre cómo mantener una buena salud y prevenir enfermedades. Además, se ofrecerán servicios médicos básicos, como pruebas de presión arterial, exámenes de glucemia y pruebas de VIH. También se brindarán servicios especializados, como pruebas de mamografía y Papanicolaou.
La feria de la salud es una oportunidad única para la comunidad latina de Elizabeth y sus alrededores para acceder a información y servicios médicos de manera gratuita. ¡No se pierda esta gran oportunidad de cuidar su salud

Complicaciones neurológicas asociadas con deficiencias nutricionales: identificación y prevención»
El sistema nervioso es muy sensible a las deficiencias nutricionales, y una mala nutrición puede tener graves consecuencias para la salud neurológica. Algunos ejemplos de deficiencias nutricionales que pueden afectar el sistema nervioso incluyen la falta de vitamina B12, la deficiencia de hierro y la falta de ácidos grasos esenciales.
La nutrición juega un papel importante en la prevención y el tratamiento de las complicaciones neurológicas en diversas condiciones, incluyendo accidente cerebrovascular, deterioro cognitivo y lesión cerebral traumática. La evaluación nutricional temprana y la intervención pueden mejorar los resultados clínicos y la calidad de vida de los pacientes.
En la conferencia se discutirán las diferentes formas en que estas deficiencias nutricionales pueden afectar el cerebro y el sistema nervioso, y se describirán los síntomas y signos de las complicaciones neurológicas asociadas. Además, se hablará sobre cómo prevenir estas complicaciones, tanto a nivel individual como a nivel de políticas de salud pública.

Carlos Augusto Williams, MD.es Medical Neurologist, specialist in Vascular Neurology and sleep disorders, [American Board of Sleep medicine], graduate professor, author of 2 autobiographical books, founder of the national campaign for the prevention of accidents cerebrovascular [STROKE], in the Dominican Republic, has a license to practice Medicine & Neurology in the states of Virginia and in New York, Co-founder of the Hispanic Association of Health Professionals in New York 37 years ago, from which has contributed to promoting the labor insertion of health professionals into the US health system, founder of the television program «the hour of the Neurologist», through TV -AHPSI,your voice!! CONTIENE AL FINAL COMO USAR EL TORNIQUETE PARA LA EXTRACCIÓN DE SANGRE:
Tourniquets are sometimes used during blood extraction to help make the veins more visible and easier to access. However, it’s important to use them correctly to avoid any potential harm. Here are the steps to use a tourniquet correctly for blood extraction:
1.Select the appropriate tourniquet. Choose a tourniquet that is made of a material that is easily sanitized, such as latex-free rubber, and is not too tight for the patient’s arm.
2.Place the tourniquet on the patient’s arm. Wrap the tourniquet around the upper arm, just above the elbow joint. Make sure that it is snug but not too tight.
3.Ask the patient to make a fist. This will help the veins in the arm to stand out more prominently.
4.Apply the tourniquet pressure. Press down on the tourniquet until the veins bulge and become more visible. However, do not tighten the tourniquet too much, as this can cause pain and damage to the veins.
5.Begin the blood draw. Insert the needle into the vein and begin the blood draw. Release the tourniquet as soon as blood flow is established.
6.Dispose of the tourniquet properly. After use, remove the tourniquet and dispose of it in a proper biohazard waste receptacle.
Remember to always follow proper infection control practices, such as washing your hands and wearing gloves, when performing any type of blood draw or medical procedure. If you’re unsure about how to use a tourniquet correctly, or if you encounter any difficulties during the blood draw, don’t hesitate to seek assistance from a healthcare professional
En phlebotomy, generalmente se utilizan dos tipos de torniquetes:
Torniquete de látex: Este es el tipo más común de torniquete utilizado en phlebotomy. Está hecho de látex y se ajusta alrededor del brazo del paciente para ayudar a restringir el flujo sanguíneo y hacer que las venas sean más fáciles de encontrar y puncionar.
Torniquete de presión neumática: Este tipo de torniquete utiliza una bomba manual para inflar una bolsa de aire alrededor del brazo del paciente. Esto ayuda a restringir el flujo sanguíneo de manera más precisa y controlada que un torniquete de látex. Aunque es menos común en phlebotomy, se utiliza en situaciones en las que se necesita una restricción más precisa del flujo sanguíneo

Dr. Cruz will be recognized for his outstanding contributions as an educator, writer, journalist, and diplomat, as well as for his leadership role in the first civic-community organization of Dominican origin. With over 51 years of experience in journalism and communication, Dr. Cruz is a renowned researcher and author of more than 15 books on various topics from history and sociological research. He holds a doctoral and master’s degrees in American and Latin American History and Journalism from the State University of New York at Buffalo and a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Communication. Additionally, he has an associate degree from Eugenio María de Hostos Community College and experience as Minister Counselor of the Permanent Mission of the Dominican Republic to the United Nations.

Dr. AMIN C. CRUZ, PhD., has completed doctoral and master’s degrees in American and Latin American History and Journalism at the State University of New York at Buffalo and a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Communication. He likewise has an Associate from Eugenio María de Hostos Community College.
For years he has worked as a journalist, professor, researcher, and adviser at the University of New York at Buffalo, Boricua College, Martin Luther King, High School, Alianza Dominicana, and vice president, professor at the Dominican Reality Research Center in New York.
He is currently Minister Counselor of the Permanent Mission of the Republic Dominican Republic before the United Nations, president of the World Congress of Universities (CMU), World Press Congress (CMP), Congress Hispanoamericano de Prensa of the city of New York, he was Director of the newspaper El Camino and the Institute of Pastoral Communications Journalism of the Archdiocese of New York, Vida Cristiana Magazine, TV Jesús and Radio Jesús.

EL ASISTENTE MEDICO ABRIENDO Y CERRANDO UNA OFICINA QUE HACER?
Un medical assistant (asistente médico) es un profesional de la salud que trabaja en clínicas, consultorios médicos, hospitales y otros entornos sanitarios. Entre sus funciones se encuentra la de abrir y cerrar la oficina médica, así como mantener la seguridad y la confidencialidad de la información de los pacientes. Algunas tareas básicas que el asistente médico debe realizar al abrir y cerrar la oficina médica son las siguientes:
Al abrir la oficina médica:
1.Verificar la seguridad de las instalaciones: el asistente médico debe asegurarse de que todas las puertas, ventanas y sistemas de seguridad estén funcionando correctamente.
2.Preparar las áreas de trabajo: esto incluye revisar que los equipos y suministros médicos estén en su lugar, que la recepción esté ordenada y limpia, y que los espacios de espera estén listos para recibir a los pacientes.
3.Encender los equipos: el asistente médico debe asegurarse de que todos los equipos, como computadoras, impresoras y equipos médicos, estén encendidos y funcionando correctamente.
4.Revisar los horarios de los pacientes: el asistente médico debe revisar el horario de los pacientes para asegurarse de que se estén cumpliendo todos los compromisos.
Al cerrar la oficina médica:
