Elizabeth Garcia Pantaleón Biography.
Dr. Garcia was born in January 25th, 1959 in San Francisco de Macoris, but she grew up in Conuco Salcedo, Dominican Republic. She is the oldest of seven children from Jesus Antonio Garcia Pantaleón and Antonia Pantaleón Gonzalez. Since childhood, she developed a passion for Music and Singing, as well as, a strong desire to become a Medical Doctor. She attended elementary school in the town of Conuco Salcedo, and completed High School in Tenares.
Dr. Garcia began college in Santiago at the «Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra», and later she transferred to the «Universidad Autonoma de Santo Domingo» to continue Medical School. At a young age, Dr. Garcia participated in several Musical groups including, Rondalla Amistad Y Alegria de Salcedo, La Rondalla Universitaria de la UASD, Coro Universitario UCMMA, and Arpa Evangelica, where she participated as solo. Also, Dr. Garcia had the opportunity to record a song and other voices for well known singers from Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico, in addition to commercial jingles.
Dr. Garcia started working in «Ramon de Lara» Air Force Military Hospital during her second year of Medical School. She Graduated from Medical School in 1985 and continued working in the same Hospital. Afterwards, she transferred to the outpatient clinic at the Social Security Hospital, where she worked for several years. She also worked in pediatric outpatient at the Dominican Health and Social Welfare Hospital. The same year of her graduation, Dr. Garcia got married with a medical doctor from Nigeria with whom she has three children, Chucks, Timothy and Elaine.
Dr. Garcia and her family migrated to the United States in 1991. During a visit to Nigeria, she had the opportunity to work for a short period of time as a medical doctor in «Monax Hospital». By 1994, she started working for the Board of Education in New York City, as a substitute teacher. This job helped her learn English as a second Language.
In 2000, Dr. Garcia took a position as a technician B in the Anatomy and Cell Biology Department at Columbia University, position that she held for two years. During this time, she decided to further her education applying to the Master’s program, «Entry to Practice Program» at Columbia University School of Nursing.
Shortly after graduating from Columbia University, Dr. Garcia worked at New York Presbyterian Hospital in Pediatric Inpatient Oncology and Pediatric Outpatient. She also completed a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Program and graduated in 2008. The same year, she started working as a primary care provider in Heritage Health Care Center, a Federal Qualify Health Center in Harlem. She currently manages the School Based Health Clinic (PS192/325/Hamilton Grange). Additionally, she works in two different Private Practices, «First Step Pediatrics» and «Boston Road Medical Center».
Dr. Garcia is an active member in a variety of organizations such as National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners «NAPNAP», American Academy of Pediatric in New Jersey, Hispanic Health Professional Association, Inc., and Dominican College of Medicine, CMD.

Social Justice Activist:
Zenaida Mendez, served as President of the National Organization for Women (NOW-NYS), New York state, from November 2012-November 2014, Ms. Mendez is the first Dominican and the first woman of color to hold the position of President of NOW-NYS.
Mendez also served for several years as Director of Racial Diversity Programs at the NOW National Office in Washington DC. Ms. Mendez, has over 20 years of experience working on issues affecting women, some of which include equal pay for equal work, reproductive justice, equal quality education, affordable childcare, affordable housing, economic, racial and environmental justice.
An avid voice for tolerance, during her tenure as director of Racial Diversity Programs at the National Organization for Women (NOW), she successfully spearheaded a diversity and inclusion training program, a woman of color and allies summit, and the campaign to end the femicide of the women of Juarez and Chihuahua, Mexico among other initiatives. Prior to that she also served as the project director for the Second National People of Color Environmental Leadership Summit. Méndez was a Women of Color Resource Center Delegate to the World Conference against Racism in Durban, South Africa in 2001
Zenaida became active in social justice as an advocate for tenant rights in New York City’s Hell Kitchen neighborhood in the mid 1980s.Worked in many political campaigns as a political strategist and campaign consultant, she manages message development campaigns, earned media strategy building and get out the vote plans for city, state and national elected officials.
In 1991, Zenaida founded the Dominican Women’s Caucus in NYC; and is also one of the founders of the National Dominican Women’s Caucus. In addition, was a former member of the Board of Directors of the West Harlem Environmental Action, the Dominican American National Roundtable, the Committee for Hispanic Family and Children and the National Latino Alliance for the Elimination of Domestic Violence among other national and local organizations.
She has spoken on issues of women’s rights, racial and environmental justice, electoral politics, parenting and immigration. Her national and international activism on behalf of issues affecting people of African descent has earned her recognition in the Latino and African American communities, as well as, many awards and commendations from local, national and international organizations.
Ms. Mendez earned a BA in Government and Public Administration from John Jay College of Criminal Justice and a Masters degree in Public Administration from the City University of New York, Graduate School of Public Affairs. Ms. Mendez also holds the esteemed position of Director of External affairs at Manhattan Neighborhood Network, the Public Access Cable Television facility in Manhattan.

Cada martes y jueves de 6:00pm a 9:00pm semanalmente nos reunimos en el Lincolns Hospital , Bronx, New York, un grupo de medicos. El objetivo principal es ayudarlos en el proceso de preparacion para tomar el exámen USMLE step 1, en cada clase se reafirma los temas descrito por NBME para el examen, ademas ofrecemos asesoria online para el mejor entendimiento del protocolo en la forma de hacer preguntas y highyield topics, le ayudamos en la planificacion de como estudiar el material y la eleccion del material a estudiar. Ser parte de este tan gran esfuerzo como coordinadora es una mision extraordinaria que estamos llevando acabo al conjunto de 6 profesores mas los cuales de una forma voluntaria ayudan a formar los medicos del futuro en USA.
Este Programa es libre de costo, sugerimos a cada estudiante periodicamente hacer donaciones,debido a que el profesorado ofrece estras instrucciones sin recibir remuneracion, y crealo tiene gastos muy diversos, Siempre decimos «Please cierre los Ojos y haga su donacion»

En Alianza con la Asociacion Hispana de Profesionales de la Salud.la Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña (UNPHU),, ofrecerá a partir del próximo mes de Enero 2015 la Maestría en Psicología Clínica, aprobada el 28 de Octubre 2014 por el Consejo de Educación Superior Ciencia Y Tecnología (CONECIT)y el Ministerio de Educación Superior Ciencia y Tecnología (MESCyT) de la República Dominicana para ser ofrecida por nuestra institución en los Estados Unidos.
Este programa está dirigido a médicos, orientadores y profesionales de la salud residentes en los Estados Unidos. Se estará ofreciendo los viernes de 6:00 pm a 9:00 pm y los sábados de 9:00 am a 12:00 m y de 1:00 400 pm. Les acompaño el Pensum de la Maestría a ofrecerse.(Anexo A)..
