Bio Dr.Ariela Valdez Holguin.
Dr. Ariela Valdez Holguin is a foreign medical graduate from the Dominican Republic, graduated in 2016 from the Universidad Catolica, tecnologica del Cibao/ UCATECI- . At the beginning of her medical education Dr. Valdez used to work as an English teacher for children and adolescents and since then she developed a special interest for pediatrics. Also she volunteered for a couple of years in the Patronato de Veganos Unidos contra el Cancer a no-profit organization that promotes prevention and early cancer detection and also raises funds for patients that can not afford their cancer treatment.
Those who know Dr. Valdez describe her as an enthusiastic, goal-oriented and compassionate person who gets out of her way to help others.
Currently Dr. Valdez is ECFMG certified and is looking forward to get a position in a Pediatric Residency program. In the mean time, she is studying for USMLE Step 3 and visits some Pediatrics private offices in the area where she can practice her medical skills and also appreciate the appropriate interaction of the pediatricians with their patients and their families.

Always in the last days or hours of our community health fairs, very enthusiastic volunteers arrive with a great desire to help, and to contribute, they ask me what can I do in this Health fair do I do? Tell me Doctor my work?
Here we offer ideas where you can collaborate as a volunteer does not need an academic degree to make it clear if you are a much better health professional.
HERE A LIST TO INTEGRATE BY AREA:
1.Area registration table at the entrance, here the patient entry is expedited and you are told what services we will offer.
2. Organize row by area of services, such as row for glucose, cholesterol, blood pressure,chiropractic, even for massage.
3.Area for special exams such as vision, dental.
4.Area translations of tests such as prostate, to make patients pass.
5.Privacy area, as for HIV tests, and for psychological counseling, prostate, pap smears, when applicable.
6.Area mobile units in the front parking lot to make patients pass, to use these services, also to provide chairs, tables, water, food, papers, pens, etc. «How is everything going here?»
7.Area to escort the agencies that arrive, to tell you where you need to be located., «Come here doctor», here is your table, also help you carry all your boxes, or equipment!
8.Area to bring water, fruits, to the participating agencies, inside the school, or to inform that lunch has already begun !!“Department of smoke and grease”
9. Unforeseen area or service, help in opening extra tables, decorating a clean tablecloth, extra chairs, locating an agency which is late and the space has been filled, bringing them a smaller table.

Seemingly non-existent a few short years ago, vaping has exploded in scope and urgency as a serious public health concern.
Its popularity, especially among younger users, has expanded dramatically. Meanwhile, recent reports of dangerous health consequences, including fatalities, necessitate the awareness of health care professionals and their actions in responding to this emerging public health issue.
A variety of delivery methods and substances, both legal and illicit, are implicated in the associated morbidity and mortality reports. While a clear picture and appropriate response are yet to emerge, in this presentation we will discuss the current understanding of vaping and its consequences, as well as strategies for addressing this multifaceted issue.

The extent, complexity, and historical perspectives leading to vaping as an emerging public health problem
Systemic health effects and consequences of vaping, including lung diseases and associated mortality
The various devices, substances and additives and their potential contributions to negative health outcomes

El pasado 16 de Diciembre, 2019, la asociación de terapeuta de familia de Pensilvania fue invitada por la Ahpsi (Dr Aritmedes Restituyo ) a participar de una reunión en New York, con el actual cónsul, Lic. Carlos Castillo y la vice cónsul Lic. Felicia del Rosario ,del estado de New York.
A dicha reunión asistieron la Dra. Lourdes Alcántara, presidente de ASOHITEFA, la Lic . Nellie Almánzar , vicepresidente y la Lic. Samantha Martínez . En dicha reunión se trataron temas importantes para la comunidad de terapeutas que cursaron maestría de terapia de familia, impartida por la Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD), en Philadelphia (a partir del ano 2010). El motivo principal de dicha reunión fue la obtención de la validación de dicho título por la agencia World Education Services, (WES) , el cónsul de New York fue abierto y comprensivo de nuestra petición y se comprometió a hacer las gestiones necesarias para lograr nuestro objetivo.La asociación de terapeutas de familia agradece por tomarnos en cuenta y augura éxitos en su gestión.
