Elizabeth and Neighboring Communities Encouraged to Register Early for Free Preventive Health Services

Elizabeth, New Jersey — July 2026. The Hispanic Association of Health Professionals, Inc. — AHPSI, together with the Dominican Parade and Festival of Union County, invites residents of Elizabeth and neighboring communities to register in advance for the 13th Annual Community Health Fair, “Decide to Be Healthy,” taking place on Sunday, July 26, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The health fair will be held at Juan Pablo Duarte & José Martí School, located at 25 First Street, Elizabeth, NJ 07206.

This important community event will provide free screenings, evaluations, preventive health education, professional guidance, and referrals. Its purpose is to bring essential health services closer to local families, promote the early detection of health conditions, and help residents connect with clinics, hospitals, and community agencies.

Registering in advance will help organizers coordinate services and allow more people to receive care efficiently. A timely screening, appropriate guidance, or a medical referral can be the first step toward protecting your health and saving a life.

Confirmed Screenings and Services

Available services will include:

  • Blood pressure screenings.
  • Capillary blood glucose testing.
  • Total cholesterol testing.
  • Vision evaluations and health education.
  • Referrals for vision services.
  • Free dental services.
  • Basic dental evaluations.
  • Dental prophylaxis, subject to availability.
  • Oral health education and dental referrals.
  • Prostate health evaluations and education.
  • Guidance and referrals for Pap smears.
  • Guidance and referrals for mammograms.
  • HIV testing and education.
  • Testing and education related to sexually transmitted infections.
  • Hepatitis C testing and education.
  • Nutritional counseling.
  • Psychological counseling and mental health education.
  • Therapeutic massage for stress management.
  • Disease prevention education.
  • Community health education.
  • Health insurance guidance.
  • Enrollment assistance and information about healthcare coverage options.
  • Immigration guidance and community legal services.
  • Financial education.
  • Lead screening in toys and household items.
  • An educational area for children and families.
  • Medical and community referrals to clinics, hospitals, and agencies based on identified needs.

The program will also include mini-conferences and the educational panel:

“A Look at Our Latino Health: Preventing the Most Common Diseases”

AHPSI and the Dominican Parade and Festival of Union County especially encourage individuals who do not have regular access to medical care, older adults, parents, and residents who wish to better understand their health status to participate in this important event.

Admission is free. Advance registration is strongly recommended to help facilitate services and provide participants with information about available resources.
